Growing grassroots solidarity has prompted the establishment of a West Papua Desk in New Zealand.
The desk is hosted at the Auckland offices of First Union, and is to be run by voluntary efforts.
It's described as a hub for organising events and raising awareness about independence aspirations and human rights violations in Indonesian ruled Papua.
The Green Party MP Marama Davidson opened the West Papua desk on Monday night.
She told Johnny Blades it's important New Zealand shows solidarity with indigenous people in the Pacific.[
