Kiribati opposition moves against Speaker

From , 5:05 am on 22 August 2018

The opposition leader in Kiribati, Titabu Tabane, says he is appalled at the behaviour of the Speaker of Parliament, Tebuai Uaai.

Mr Uaai, who is appointed to parliament, is facing allegations of sexual harassment and excessive drinking while leading a Kiribati delegation to an international conference earlier this year.

The opposition has been trying to get a motion before parliament to have him removed but Mr Uaai is stopping the motions from reaching the House floor.

Mr Tabane told Don Wiseman about the opposition's concerns.
