From , 3:03 pm on 19 September 2018

A team of foreign heart specialists have been in Fiji trying to ease the country's high burden of rheumatic heart disease.

The Ministry of Health estimates one in fifty school aged children in Fiji have the disease which is prevalent in developing countries and impoverished parts of richer countries.

Shane Lal of the Friends of Fiji Heart Foundation has been on ten of its annual missions and this year spent her time spreading the word about the debilitating and sometimes fatal disease.
