Police in Tonga are hoping to improve their own behaviour after the introduction of training in gender bias.

Superintendent Ashley Fua says the Women and Children Crisis Centre helped police run a workshop for 28 recruits addressing core questions of fairness, equity and equality and the treatment of women.

He told Jenny Meyer a recent workshop also revealed that gender bias was hindering the performance of police in the field, prompting them to ask for help with the issue.
