The Marshall Islands President, Hilda Heine, is preparing to face a vote of no confidence next week in what's projected to be a tight race.
The current 33-seat parliament is near evenly split between opposition members and the ruling administration.
On Monday the opposition announced a list of criticisms against Ms Heine's govenrment which included concerns about unequal government services to outer islands, the removal of postal ballot voting for citizens residing overseas and the establishment of a digital currency as legal tender.
Our correspondent Giff Johnson told Indira Stewart what else may have pushed the opposition to introduce the motion of no confidence.
