Climate change and its impact on pests and disease

Agencies including the Food and Agriculture Organisation and Pacific Community (SPC) are concerned at the growing threat to the Pacific from pests and diseases.

A meeting in Fiji last week heard that the number of discoveries was increasing, pushing farmers towards harmful pesticides that pose environmental and health risks. 

Don Wiseman spoke with the director of the Land Resources Division at the SPC, Jan Helsen, who says the threat is being put down to climate change.
