Te-Hani Brown hangs on to seat in Cook Islands

From , 4:02 pm on 20 March 2019

The deputy prime minister of the Cook Islands is rejecting claims by the opposition that the Atiu MP Te-Hani Brown was wooed to the government benches by promises of infrastructural investment.

The Tengatangi-Areora-Ngatiarua candidate won back her seat after a by-election was forced when she crossed the floor.

The government now has a parliamentary majority.

Dominic Godfrey spoke with the deputy prime minister and told me what Mark Brown thought was the significance of the result.
