Campaign launched to counter mis-information about vaccines

UNICEF says anti-immunisation sentiment in developed countries like New Zealand is being spread to more vulnerable Pacific nations.

UNICEF has launched a global social media campaign #VaccinesWork to counter mis-information about vaccines and talk about the importance of immunisation.

The UNICEF representative to the Pacific, Sheldon Yett, says across the Pacific parents are generally eager to have their children vaccinated.

But he says there are pockets of anti-immunisation attitudes, particularly in Australia and New Zealand, where there have been recent measles' outbreaks.

Sheldon Yett says individuals who often have other agendas are spreading false information.
