King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV

Tonga's King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV was educated in Sydney and studied law there before returning to Tonga in 1943 to work as Minister of Education, then Minister of Health, and Prime Minister from 1949 until 1965 when he acceded to the throne after the death of his mother, Queen Salote. Ian Johnstone was granted an audience at the Nuku'alofa Palace in 1995.
