The late Johnny Thunders was the guitarist for glam proto-punks New York Dolls and later the Heartbreakers with Richard Hell. Both bands went on to influence a score of big hair 80’s LA metal bands like Aerosmith.
A new documentary on his life and work- Looking for Johnny- The Legend of Johnny Thunders, was recently released.
New York Dolls biographer Nina Antonia, a close friend of Johnny’s who appears in the documentary, joined Trevor Reekie on the phone to talk about his life and rocky career.
