A new, meaningful social networking game has taken flight on Facebook. It's called Flutter and its creators are from Dunedin. Set in the Amazon Rainforest, Flutter lets players experience the life cycle of tropical butterflies and explore one of the most bio-diverse regions of our planet. It's like the hugely popular Farmville game on Facebook, only with a social conscience.

Marina Seager's family has just purchased the old nurses home in Riverton in Invercargill. It's got 49 rooms, including 30 bedrooms and 8 toilets. The extra space will be nice for her husband and 4 kids, but the reason the Seager's bought the house is to help other families who find themselves without a place to stay. They've given it a new name, 'Piringa', which means shelter or refuge.
