They've come from Canada, Samoa, Australia and all over New Zealand to attend te Kura Raumati - Summer Camp, at the Church of Te Hepara Pai and run by Te Hui Amorangi te Waipounamu. The day is a special treat for the tamariki and rangatahi - children and teenagers - as a reward for hard work on Bible studies they get the crew the waka Te Kowhai, on the Avon River. The waka was built by Jimmy Brennan, who's whakapapa is represented in the carvings.
