Eighty-eight-year-old Dorothy Anderson has been to more than 40 countries with an organisation called The Friendship Force, a non-profit group that organises home stay international cultural exchanges. Dorothy has just won the organisation's top award, the Wayne Smith Medal, for her work.

The 2011 New Zealand Sheep Dog Championships have just wrapped up at Bideford near Masterton. Among the competitors was the legendary Rex Berkahn, a four-time champion who has been competing for 65 years. Rex, now 80, is still working on his farm and still training sheep dogs.

An organisation which has brought the native birds back to Auckland's Waitakere Ranges is celebrating its successes and raising funds at a special concert this Friday. Ark in the Park calls itself a "community environmental restoration project". It works with the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society and the Auckland Council.
