Next week 260 tuatara will take to the air, briefly joining the jet-age.
They're being flown from Stephens Islands in the Marlborough Sounds to nature and wildlife reserves around the country.
It's the largest ever single transfer of the reptiles to the mainland, and as such it will be conducted with a bit of ceremony.
