234 years ago today, Captain James Cook , the British explorer who was the first to circumnavigate New Zealand was murdered in Hawaii. Tonight, Captain Cook's pistol... one of his few personal possessions that remains... will go up for auction in Australia. It belongs to former Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Ron Walker. he bought it from descendants of Captain Cook in 2003. Charles Leski is the founder of Leski Auctions

There would be no dignity for Julia Pastrana until yesterday when a crusade to see her remains returned from the University of Oslo for burial in Mexico.. finally ended. Artist Laura Anderson Barbata battled for years for this day. Hundreds were there for the funeral.
