The curtain is about to come down on a business that has supported show business for 20 years. WestSide Studios in Wellington is home to more than 600 props... everything from floats for the Santa Parade to jungle scenery for a corporate events. It is a collection of the weird and wonderful world of supplying props and equipment to the film and television industry. Director Robert Baldock is now putting the lot up for sale. At 65, he says he's ready to retire. So the props from shows like Xena, Hercules, Dark Knight, and The Tribe will be for sale by tender followed by a giant garage sale for anything that doesn't sell. This weekend the Lepperton Primary School in Waitara is hosting a ride on lawnmower race day to raise money for the school. Lawnmower racers will be coming from Taranaki, Bay of Plenty and Fielding for the event. The contestants ride on modified lawnmowers with the blades removed, of course. There are other activities and events for the kids.
