When Paula Stone Williams transitioned from male to female, she knew she would be treated differently. She wanted to be treated like a woman.  But what she didn't expect was the loss of privilege as a well educated, affluent white man.

She says the change was dramatic and immediate.

She noticed that what she said when she was a man was treated with more credibility than when she said it as a woman.

She offers her observations of gender from both sides and how culture is tilted in favor of white men.
