1:15 Music videos now on the charts 

When a new album drops often the first thing many people do is check out the single's video.

It can be the difference between a hit and a miss, a great video can elevate a dud song. But currently videos aren't included in the charts. 

That's about to change in the UK, with the singles charts set to include video views for the first time, starting this weekend. 

Paul Kennedy has been the chart manager for Recorded Music New Zealand for the past couple of decades and tells us whether this could be a step for us here.

1:25 Matariki finalist: Pania Newton on activism

Next month Māori TV's Matariki Awards will be held, honouring those who have contributed to Māori development and achievement over the year. 

There's a long list of finalists but one that stood out was South Auckland lawyer and activist Pania Newton. 

Pania's made it her life's work to preserve the Ihumātao Stonefields in Mangere, taking the fight to the United Nations. 

The 27-year-old is up for the Te Whetū Maiangi Award for Young Achievers on July 14 and tells Jesse about her work.

This week New Zealand's top mathematicians and math students have descended on Auckland to put their brains together to help some of New Zealand's biggest companies solve problems.

It's being held at AUT and run by applied mathematics lecturer, Dr Hyuck Chung, who explains what is involved.

2:20 Eric Dozier: The story of Gospel Music

Eric Dozier is an expert on gospel music and African American musical traditions. He started playing the piano at church at the age of 4 and has travelled the world for 20 years working with choirs, community groups and schools.

He's been the musical director of the Harlem Gospel Choir and for the Children's Theatre Company of New York. And he's coming to Auckland to hold workshops on the weekend of the 6 July.

He tells us about the history of gospel music, and looks at its role in protest and community building.

John Moe knows what it's like to feel the isolation and darkness of depression. He also knows about the power of connection and the power of humour.

He combines his talent as a stand up comedian and personal experience with depression and anxiety for a podcast called The Hilarious World of Depression.

The podcast features other comedians who also suffer from depression who explain what they have done to deal with the black dog.
