Short Story Club

This afternoon we will discuss  Sia Figiel's 'Freelove', which was extracted to work as a short story in the 2017 anthology Black Marks on the White Page, but is actually a part of her new novel Freelove, published last month by Little Island Press, NZ, which is a New Zealand-based community publisher and social enterprise focused on Pasifika works.

Dr Robert Wood from the University of New South Wales pops in to talk a bit about what unconscious bias actually is, and shares some tips for how people and workplaces can get past it.

The king salmon industry is worth about half a billion dollars a year, but industry heads reckon it could become New Zealand's next cash cow.

But in order to do that, they say they have to move their operation from the Marlborough Sounds into Cook Strait - and that's riled up some people who question whether New Zealand really needs, or wants, intensified salmon farming right on our doorstep.
