Town Crier

From Afternoons, 2:09 pm on 8 July 2014

In days gone by, no respectable town was without its town crier. They were the original newsreaders in a way, shouting out the day's activities and goings on to the local population. But these days, town criers are less of a necessity and more of a novelty, but that doesn't stop them from keeping up their traditions and bringing a touch of the past to our present day lives. Central Otago crier, Paddy Ann Pemberton will soon represent New Zealand in Chester, England at the World Tournament of Town Crying.
