Raju the Elephant - Nikki Sharpe

From Afternoons, 2:10 pm on 11 July 2014

For some people the elephant in the room is that animals can suffer very deeply and show their emotions openly, as witnessed with the rescue of enslaved Indian elephant, Raju, who appeared to cry when he was rehomed in a wildlife sanctuary after being freed from 50 years of shackled slavery in Uttar Pradesh in India. One person who certainly shed tears of happiness is Nikki Sharpe, executive director of Wildlife of SOS - the International charity who staged Raju's dramatic rescue and rehoming.
