From Jesse Mulligan, 1–4pm, 1:19 pm on 21 July 2014

1989: the year of major reforms to education, with Tomorrow's Schools. Some of the old system was stripped away. Regional Education Boards were abolished while the Department of Education was replaced by a leaner Ministry of Education. And other agencies were set up, like the Education Review Office to monitor schools, and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
