No more medium rare burgers

From Afternoons, 1:20 pm on 26 June 2017

New MPI rules prohibit restaurants from grilling medium-rare burgers.

It means minced meat and liver needs to be cooked at high temperatures for a longer amount of time than previously.

And yesterday there were reports the Duke of Marlborough hotel in Russell has stopped serving its famous burger.

Mimi Gilmour is the owner of Burger Burger, an Auckland burger chain that advertises their burgers "medium rare unless requested".

And she is not happy with the changed rules.
