New research has found a link between the increase in the number of handguns in American homes and firearm-related deaths of toddlers.
Kiwi researcher Dr Kate Prickett worked with US academics on a project tracking the connection between gun ownership and mortality of kids between 1-5 years old, over a 40 year period.
Dr Prickett is a senior lecturer at Victoria University, though the work was one while she was at the University of Waikato and the University of Chicago. She joins us to explain the findings.
