Our Changing World: UV Laser

Platinum, titanium, zirconium - they're all refractory metals, metals so tough, they need to be heated above two thousand degrees Celcius to melt. But at the University of Canterbury there is a UV laser which produces a beam a billion times the intensity of the sun, so intense it can evaporate these kinds of metals.
