Rugby Ball

From Afternoons, 2:08 pm on 7 July 2011

A souvenir rugby ball, signed 66 years ago by members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force rugby team, has been found hidden in a pewter cup. The team was made up of New Zealand soldiers who had just spent six years on the battlefields of Europe, or in POW camps. Winger Jim Sherratt was part of that team. After Sherratt died in May, his family found the ball, which has now been donated to the New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame.
