Long distance pen pal

45 years ago, a 17 year old girl from Bluff started writing to a pen pal in Gastonia, North Carolina in the Southern United States. Before Facebook and email, putting pen to paper was just about the only way to connect to people from the other side of the world. Colleen Hughes and Pat Ledford were strangers then. Colleen is just back from a trip to the United States, including a stop in North Carolina and she is on the line with us from Kurow.
