Whangarei's departing police chief is being criticised by his own union for airing what it calls dirty laundry in public. The Public Service Association blames Government cuts and poor planning for more than 70,000 calls to IRD going unanswered over its busiest tax return time. The Labour Party is calling for changes to stop the normalisation of alcohol by sporting and cultural heroes amid what's been described as an 'explosion' of foetal alcohol syndrome.
