Topics - The Government has softened its controversial plan to limit the recreational snapper catch in the upper north island. The Primary Industries Ministry was proposing cutting the allowable catch from nine fish to three per day, per person, or increasing the allowable size, or a combination of both. Primary Industries Minister, Nathan Guy has announced that, from April, each recreational angler will be allowed to keep seven fish per day which must be at least 30cm long - three cm longer than the current limits.
