Health researchers, worried about physical inactivity among young Aucklanders want developers of a "compact city" to reserve more playing spaces for children. A study of 253 children aged 9 to 12 by researchers from three universities found them more involved in sedentary pastimes such as indoor computer games than in physical pursuits. We heard yesterday that elderly people in an Otara housing complex are being cowered and robbed by burglars. Auckland City says a CCTV camera to identify those burglars would cost more than $60,000.
