AT THE MOVIES #653 – OVER THEIR HEADS

Simon Morris goes to the latest, mostly one-character film - The Shallows - starring Blake Lively fighting a marauding Great White shark and a rising tide. And two thrillers put unlikely heroes in harm’s way.  In Our Kind of Hero, teacher Ewan McGregor finds himself up against the Russian Mafia, while War Dogs Miles Teller and Jonah Hill, with no previous experience, luck into the job of supplying the Pentagon with second-hand weapons.

Featured this week – The Shallows brings back the shark film, as Blake Lively finds herself stranded with no help in sight.

Our Kind of Hero is the latest from the pen of spy-master John Le Carre. Starring Ewan McGregor, Naomie Harris and Damian Lewis.

And War Dogs is a comedy-thriller, based on the true story of two 20-something arms dealers.   Starring Miles Teller and Jonah Hill, and directed by Todd (The Hangover) Phillips.
