Dwayne Johnson's charm covers a multitude of cinematic sins in Skyscraper (REVIEW)

From At The Movies, 7:31 pm on 18 July 2018

With his astonishing physique and guileless earnestness, Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) is an action figure brought to life, says Simon Morris.

The new film Skyscraper pits the former wrestler against heights, fire and bad guys... so just business as usual for the big guy.

While the movie could be described as Die Hard without the wit or the stellar villain, The Towering Inferno without a cast of thousands or even just another dumb thriller (complete with a naked bid for the huge Chinese moviegoing market) Johnson's charm covers a multitude of sins, Simon says.

As long as The Rock flexes his impossible biceps a few times and raises that eyebrow at least once, everyone gets their money's worth.
