A New Zealander detained in Bali for importing less than a gram of methamphetamine into Indonesia might only serve a six-month sentence with rehabilitation.
Myra Williams has accepted she was on a 'bender' when she was arrested after arriving on a flight from Brisbane in September.
Her New Zealand lawyer, Craig Tuck, visited Miss Williams for the first time today.
He told Checkpoint with John Campbell she was facing a seven-year sentence, but he was negotiating with the police to reduce that.
"She's accepting that she's got problems with methamphetamine, and has had for a year, and on that basis she would receive just a six-month sentence with rehabilitation."
Mr Tuck said Miss Williams has been on an emotional roller coaster but she has strong support from her family.
