Voters in John Key's Helensville electorate have mixed feelings about his departure from Parliament.
Mr Key has been an MP for 15 years - eight of them as prime minister - and, on Wednesday, he will give his valedictory speech to Parliament.
His resignation will take effect on 14 April.
Since announcing he was stepping down from the country's top job in November, and becoming a backbench MP, Mr Key has kept out of the spotlight.
But he has revealed he has signed on to be global brand ambassador for the International Sports Promotion Society, which supports blind and disabled golf.
While some voters in Helensville say they will be sad to see him go and that he will be remembered as a great prime minister, others aren't so sure.
