Tumultuous week for Westland District Council

Three Westland District Council staff have been paid a total of $230,000 in severance payments and the council has a $2m deficit in it annual operating costs. Earlier this week it was revealed that Westland District Mayor Bruce Smith has instructed staff to call him 'Your Worship'.
