Christchurch quakes rolling coverage (Part 2)

The quake struck at 1.58pm and has been followed by a swarm of aftershocks, some sharp enough to topple items from shelves. One, at 3.18pm, registered 6 on the Richter Scale, bigger than the 2pm tremor.It was just 6kms deep and centred 10kms east of Christchurch and 10kms north of Lyttelton.The epicentre of the main quake was 20kms north east of Lyttelton and was at a depth of 8 kms.
