An energy expert has told the Waitangi Tribunal hearing about water rights, that royalty ayments could be a way of resolving water ownership claims; The Prime Minister says he respects the right of the Maori Council to take a case to the Waitangi Tribunal, and takes the process seriously; The Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology, Ngai Tahu iwi, and industry have welcomed the Government's decision to boost Maori Trade Training in Christchurch; The Interim Chairman of the Iwi Education Authority's cultural arm, Te Kahui Reo Taketake, says making it mandatory for all teachers to be culturally competent, could help improve the academic achievements of Maori students and their behaviour.
