Forget Me Not

The Coronation Garden in Little River is a living memorial for local men who died in World War One and Two.

Designed by local nurseryman Bruce King (pictured above), the garden is packed with perennials, rhododendrons, flaxes and bulbs he's grown and planted himself.

The garden sits beside the War Memorial Gates and opposite the abandoned Coronation Building in the Awa-iti Domain.

“Most of the plants are self-seeding and it’s great to have annuals and as many different colours as possible,” he says.

Bruce's work in the Coronation Garden was acknowledged in 2015 when he was a finalist in the Gardena Gardener of the Year competition.
