Thousands of supporters of dairy farming have taken part in a month long celebration of their industry on social-media.

The idea for the Twitter campaign, Februdairy, came from Dr Jude Capper, an animal scientist, sustainability consultant  and UK Dairy Woman of the Year.

"It was to encourage dairy farmers or anybody in the dairy industry; nutritionists, vets and so on, to post positive images of farming, not just in the UK but world-wide because as a global industry we have quite a lot of critics, quite a lot of misinformation and propaganda and I thought it was time we posted more positive images that were true to life."

Posts ranged from photos of oozing soft cheeses, to farming facts, nutritional information about dairy products and footage of cows interacting with farmers.

The campaign also attracted many comments from anti-dairy campaigners,
