Children can lose 6 months reading ability during summer beak

Catching up on books is over summer is one of the things many adults look forward to each year. But the long summer break can have adverse consequences for children who don't pick up any books while they're on holiday. Those in the education field call it the summer slide and say children can lose up to 6 months' reading ability by not putting their nose in a book in their summer break.
