The Day In Parliament for 26 August 2016 - morning edition

From In Parliament, 5:45 am on 26 August 2016

House adjourns for a week shortly after passing the final reading of the Shop Trading Hours Amendment Bill - which will give local authorities the power to allow retail trading on Easter Sunday. Passing by 62 votes to 59, the bill is supported by National, ACT, United Future and Te Ururoa Flavell - while Labour, the Greens, New Zealand First and Marama Fox vote in opposition. Debate on the bill sees Labour MPs calling on their National counterparts to vote with their conscience on the issue; Labour's Sue Moroney is kicked out of the chamber for calling Michael Woodhouse "gutless", while other MPs skirt around rules governing parliamentary and unparliamentary language.
