Wary wait for any bad weather as Whangamata cleans up

MetService is warning heavy rain this morning could cause more flooding, slips and road closures.

It says severe weather will sweep through the top parts of the North Island between now and Sunday.

More than 200 millimetres of rain is predicted for some parts of Northland, and heavy rain warnings are also in place for Coromandel and Bay of Plenty for later today.

Emergency crews have been clearing roads, slips and waterways across Coromandel after the torrential rain earlier this week.

Michael Robertson told our reporter Eva Corlett his house is teetering on the edge of a slip in Whangamata.
