Auckland cake decorator wins West Coast wasterwater contract

A West Coast council has put on hold a contract to upgrade two water treatment plants, saying a bond of $100,000 negotiated with the company hasn't been paid. "If the bond's not paid, the bond's not paid. We'll be gone like a rabbit," the Westland District Council mayor Bruce Smith told Morning Report. The council's asset manager, Vivek Goel, is on leave and the council is investigating all the contracts he's issued in the past three years.The Serious Fraud Office is investigating the Westland District Council, and Mr Goel has confirmed he is being involved with this investigation.
