Stewart Island oyster cull begins

From Morning Report, 7:21 am on 19 June 2017

The Ministry for Primary Industries are removing the oysters to protect the Fouveaux Strait wild oyster fishery from the Bonamia parasite that has been discovered at farms in the bay. Andrew Sander, MPI's response manager, says that the culled oysters will be heading to a landfill, and the boat itself will be taking the "long route" - steering clear of Fouveaux Strait.
