Jacinda Ardern's first week as Labour leader

From Morning Report, 7:36 am on 8 August 2017

After a turbulent political week that saw Jacinda Ardern become the new leader of the Labour Party, Ms Ardern talked with Susie Ferguson about the effects of the latest Green Party conflicts.

She said she wouldn't speculate if Labour would take votes off the Greens, and would be happy to get votes from anywhere.

Ms Ardern said all the main parties had seen difficulties in the past few weeks.

"National, I don't think, would be comfortable where they are, answering questions about [Clutha-Southland MP] Todd Barclay. We weren't in a great space a week ago, let's be honest."

"This does happen to political parties from time to time."
