Peters calls to move Ports of Auckland to Northland

Winston Peters is promising to move Auckland's container port to Northland, saying Auckland wants its harbour back and Northland wants the jobs.

He's describing it as a cast iron commitment, saying the container port would shift by 2027 and the cars that are now delivered to Auckland would shift to Northland within two years.

RNZ Auckland correspondent Todd Niall says the policy "cuts across" recent studies.
