Iwi are warning the National Party to back off its election promise made yesterday to sell state-owned farms to young farmers.
Landcorp owns 85 farms, and most are subject to Treaty of Waitangi claims and iwi have right of first refusal.
Nathan Guy tells Susie Ferguson National hasn't spoken to iwi, but it will. He says it was appropriate to inform Landcorp early, but says National will work constructively with iwi through the process.
