Fairfax, NZME take merger bid to High Court

From Morning Report, 7:37 am on 16 October 2017

New Zealand's biggest publishers of news go to court today to try to overturn the competition watchdog's refusal to allow them to merge. Fairfax Media (recently rebranded as Stuff) and NZME say the Commerce Commission got it wrong back in May when it rejected their merger proposal. The companies have argued it is essential to their survival and the future of news journalism in New Zealand. Later on Monday their appeal gets under way in the High Court in Wellington. Colin Peacock from RNZ's Mediawatch explains the case.
