'Some will sink their savings' to fix quake-prone buildings

Earthquake-prone buildings in Wellington need to be fixed, but no one wants to foot the bill. In Wellington, 669 buildings are registered as quake-prone - almost 200 of them are listed as residential and 70 have body corporates. A law brought into effect in July means that earthquake prone buildings in Wellington need to be assessed within five years and upgraded with in 15. Inner City Wellington Resident's spokesperson Geraldine Murphy tells us some owners just don't have the money and face financial ruin.
