Union says employer can talk as Wellington train strike looms

From Morning Report, 7:45 am on 15 November 2017

Trains across the greater Wellington region network will come to a halt tomorrow as workers take part in a 24-hour strike. Hundreds of staff member employed by Metlink operators Transdev and Hyundai Rotem are striking from 2am.

The strike will affect the entire region, including Wairarapa. Metlink is warning people to expect heavy delays on the roads and for students sitting exams to take this into consideration, as there won't be a bus replacement service.

General Secretary of the Rail and Maritime Transport Union Wayne Butson tells us they know it's a disruption for commuters but says they believe workers will understand.
